We have meet ups every weekend and small group sessions throughout the week. Theres always something going on in NYC. We have a Facebook Group and Message Board we use as a community forum for Parkour meet ups. To join this group Click Here
Parkour is meant to be done outside in the environment we live our daily lives in. Our meet ups are outside, in public spaces throughout the five boroughs. There are also a few Parkour Gyms scattered throughout NYC. All these spots can be found on our PKNYC Spot Map at the top of the page.
You need comfortable workout clothes. Sweatpants or long joggers recommended over shorts. Comfortable shoes which we cover more in depth further down this page. You also need a good attitude because Parkour is hard at first. However we are a strong community and we take care of our own. If you show up and want to really do it for yourself, you will find a strong foundation that will support you in your training process. A metro card or vehicle will help get your around and we use the term vehicle lightly. It can be a bike, skateboard, longboard, scooter, w/e you want that helps cut down on walking. Sometimes we walk a good distance when we go to different spots during the extended jams in the spring/summer. You might want to carry around some personal water or snacks, or money to buy some throughout the day. We don’t always recommend trusting the water fountains at every spot. The PKNYC Spot Map has pins on it that show $1 dollar slice spots and also 7/11 stores so you can refuel on the go and for the cheap. It also has a pin where you can buy Feiyue shoes for the low. Definitely make use of the spot map for directions to meet ups.
This is a really good one. We rarely have problems with police. A lot of our training and meet ups are in public areas and are always respectful of the public civilians around us. We take good care to leave no trace and keep our training areas clean, because we use them the most so its up to us to take care of them. Security sometimes can show up and then we just move to another spot on the list. No one usually gets in trouble unless your doing something sketchy and thats not the group vibe when we train together. There are those kind of Parkour people out there and through our community you might just be able to find them if thats your thing. As for us, we keep it low to the ground and legal.

This one is really the heart and soul of the Parkour purist. Shoes vary based on the wearer. We over time have grown fond of certain brands and kinds but ultimately you have to decide what you like the best. Here are just a few of the top most worn brands of shoes in the parkour community in New York City. Take into account that wearing these shoes for training AND everyday walking will put more wear and tear on them so be prepared to stock up or have a pair of walking shoes aside from your training shoes cause this concrete will tear your sole to pieces if you wear them on the daily.
